Adams gets hot in Warrior win

Tyler Adams has been called “T-Bone” most of his life. If he starts looking for a new nickname going into high school, he could probably borrow one from former NBA player Matt Bonner. He looked like the ‘Red Mamba’ Tuesday night while torching the Bulldogs.

Adams scored a game-high 22 points to lead Centertown to a 42-26 win at home, extending the team’s 7-8 grade elementary league winning streak to eight straight games this season.

While it shouldn’t be hard to find the fiery redhead on the court, the Bulldogs couldn’t seem to contain Adams around the perimeter. Adams shook loose to drain four 3-pointers in his team’s latest win, showing off a deft touch from deep.

Adams outscored the rest of his teammates and nearly outdueled Eastside on his own Tuesday. When he wasn’t tickling the twine from deep, Adams was able to get right to the rim, finishing over Bulldog defenders to notch a big night for the Warriors.

John Porter Prater, Centertown’s leading scorer this season, did damage as well. Prater finished with 12 points, effortlessly working through the defense at times to get big baskets.

Connor Williams, fresh off having the hot hand late in Monday night’s win over Morrison, added six points in the victory, while Lealon Arnold scored two.

Lex Winfree scored 10 points to lead Eastside, followed by Caleb Cox with six, Hunter Mahler with five, Malachi Wilcher and Ty Arnold with two apice and Dean Cooper with one.

Centertown already has the regular season title clinched, but it still has two games to play this week. The Warriors will travel to play Dibrell Thursday before finishing at home with Irving College Friday.
