Candidate Announcement: Chris Cope

Cope seeking School Board seat

submitted by Chris Cope

Hello! I'm Chris Cope and I am running for the District 5 School Board seat, which includes Distrrict 9 and 10 and encompasses the Centertown, Morrison and Viola areas. I'm a 1995 graduate of Warren County High School who was born and raised in Centertown. I attended grades K-8 at Centertown Elementary School.

I'm a few months short of 20 years as a small business owner, which features my work at Crisp Springs Market and Bridge Side Market. I'm also now over three years into running Crisp Springs Fireworks.

I have a daughter, Hennessee, 10, who is entering the sixth grade at CES. She's active in many sports and will be running for the WCMS cross country team this year. We are members of Centertown United Methodist Church where I sit on numerous committees, including chair of both SPPRC and communication committees, as well as the finance and education committees. I'm also President of the CUMC men's club and the high school Sunday school teacher.

I'm very active in the community, including being the former VP of Centertown Elementary PIC (Parent Involvement Club) and coaching my daughters T-ball/softball teams for the past 7 years at Centertown Youth League. I spent two years helping coach at Morrison and sponsor and support many youth activities around Warren County (sitting on the Board of Directors at Warren Arts and as a volunteer with HOME).

In my limited spare time, I'm an avid runner who has completed two marathons and dozens of half marathons.

I want to be your representative for the school board because I truly believe that we as parents have a huge responsibility to our kids and should be engaged and involved in their education. We have amazing teachers here in Warren County and we need to make sure they always are appreciated in every way.

I absolutely believe that ENGAGED PARENTS + APPRECIATED EDUCATORS = BETTER STUDENTS.

As a business owner, no one can make better decisions for my business than myself. As a parent no one can make better decisions for our kids than us. Each decision as a board member that I will make not only affects your child or grandchild, it will also affect my own.

I would appreciate your vote and support!
