Chatting with coach Lippe

IT’S BASKETBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

The Lady Pioneers, led by Coach Anthony Lippe, are ready for another year full of great success. Coach Lippe is beginning his fourth season as the head coach of the Lady Pioneer basketball team. His team has made great strides in the past few years and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them!

Warren County went from two wins in Lippe's first year to 24 victories last season, including the program's first region win since 1979. The WCSA had a chance to do a Q&A with Coach Lippe to hear a little bit about his team and the upcoming season!

What can you tell me about your seniors and how they will lead this team?

Coach Lippe: "Our seniors have a lot of experience and they know my expectations. We are going into our fourth year together and so by now they know their roles, they know the standard that we have for our program and they know how to lead by example to pass that legacy on to our younger players.”

The Pioneers just had their first day of practice last Monday, how did that go and what did you see from your team?

Coach Lippe: “I thought it went well. They know that you don't get a second chance to set the tone and I believe we had good energy and effort in the first practice.”

What are some things you focused on your first week of practice?

Coach Lippe: “We have to make sure that everyone understands their roles and what they bring to the team. We have to compete everyday in practice and so having that mindset is something to stress to our girls.”

You were able to get in a lot of games over the summer, what did you see from that time that you can improve upon? What are some things you liked from summer ball?

Coach Lippe: “We are always trying to find ways to get better. I think working on our offensive execution is something we will have to be better at, along with taking care of the ball and limiting our turnovers. As far as things that I liked this summer, our effort and intensity was great. Our girls understand what it takes to compete at a very high level now and that goes a long way.”

Your team will play in the Hall of Champions game on November 19th in Manchester, do you have any other scrimmages or play days before then?

Coach Lippe: “We will be playing two games on November 12th.” Note: those games will be in Lebanon. Also, the Lady Pioneers will travel to Walker Valley on November 15th.

Any other comments about the upcoming season?

Coach Lippe: “I am excited to compete again and I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish.”

We will be covering the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers all season, so stay tuned!
