JV Pioneers fall at Coffee County

The young Pioneers are gaining experience, but they haven’t yet found a way to pick up an elusive victory.

Warren County’s JV football team fell again Monday night, this time on the road to Coffee County 20-6. It was the second time the Pioneers have faced Coffee County in JV action, with the last game going to the Red Raiders 35-0 at Nunley Stadium Sept. 14.

The Pioneer JV team is now 0-3 this season, including a 36-28 loss at Cookeville.

Warren County got on the board in the first half when Collin Panter rumbled his way to the endzone on a 60-yard run. Panter was hit at the line of scrimmage by two defenders, but he was able to escape and race down the sideline untouched for the score.

The Pioneers also had a long touchdown pass in the second half, but it was called back due to a penalty. Nathan Elrod connected with Drathan Dixon on the same play on the next snap, but it was stopped before Dixon could get to paydirt and Coffee County made a stand deep in its zone to hold on to the lead.

The Red Raiders added a score with 2:30 to play to ensure victory.

Warren County will play its next JV game Monday, Oct. 19 at home against Tullahoma.
