Practices resuming June 1

Sorry Allen Iverson. We are talking about practice.

In the first move toward normalcy for Warren County sports, the local administration approved plans this week to allow teams to resume practicing starting June 1. Teams will be able to get back together, although the workouts are strictly to be individual. No contact is allowed.

Workouts are also limited to less than 10 players per group, while any weight lifting must be followed with a lengthy wipe down and cleaning of all equipment.

Despite the limitations individual workouts place on team activities, coaches are thrilled to be returning to the fields.

"Anything we can get, we'll gladly take," said Warren County football coach Matt Turner. "We've been chomping at the bit to get guys back together and back in the weight room. It's time to get bigger, strong and faster for the season."

With the resumption of use of athletic facilities at Warren County High School, several teams are currently scheduling tryouts for next year's squads. More information will follow on tryout dates for Pioneer and Lady Pioneer squads.
