Season opener moved to Thursday

The 2020 football season continues to jump through hoops to have games played. The newest obstacle is the rainfall projected from Hurricane Laura to sweep through the state this weekend.
With heavy rainfall in the forecast Friday, Warren County and Cannon County officials have made the decision to play this year's season opener at Nunley Stadium on Thursday night. Kickoff will remain at 7 p.m.
"Due to the forecast for severe storms Friday night, we have moved the game to Thursday,“ said WCHS athletic director Todd Willmore.
Warren County enters the contest 1-0, having beaten DeKalb County 30-24 last week. Cannon County lost its season opener 39-0 at Walker Valley.
The Lions won the first-ever matchup between the border rivals last year 20-7.
Pioneer fans are being encouraged to buy season tickets to guarantee entry into football games this fall. Nunley Stadium's capacity is being limited to 1,500 fans for games this year.
Season tickets are available for $30. Parking passes are $20.
More information will follow on the WCSA Facebook and Twitter pages about the previously scheduled ticket sale for Thursday night.
