Security Federal Athlete of the Week: Feb. 6-12

Partnering with Security Federal, the Warren County Sports Authority will honor a standout local athlete each week. The WCSA and the Friendliest Bank in Town love seeing great athletic achievement and there are plenty to pick from every week in Warren County. From winter to summer, spring to fall, and on courts, fields, diamonds, dance floors and anywhere else an athlete can succeed, Security Federal and the Sports Authority are going to be on the lookout for the best of the best!

Boyd senior Christian Rogers

It's hard to think of a week that could be more memorable on the hardwood for Boyd senior Christian Rogers than what he accomplished in the span of six days last week. Rogers started the week celebrating his final time playing at JK Stanley Gymnasium, then ended it by reaching a milestone never before reached by a Bronco.

Rogers was one of five Broncos who were honored last week on senior night, where Boyd faced cross-town rival Boyd. The Broncos had to come from behind in the second half to win and they relied heavily on their top option to get the 76-54 victory.

Known for his breakout scoring and unstoppable post play, Rogers dropped a season-high 36 points on senior night, destroying any defense the Lions could throw at him. He followed it up with a 32-point performance against the Bradley Knights two days later.

With back-to-back big games, raising his number of 30-or-more point game to seven this year, Rogers went into Saturday just seven points away from 2,000 in his career. There was no doubt he would get it when Boyd took on Marion County.

Rogers was able to get the mark on Saturday, becoming the school's first 2,000 point Bronco. It capped an incredible run over the last two years, where Rogers has scored over 1,300 points in just two seasons.

Rogers will get a chance to add to his total tonight when the Broncos kick off the TSIAA tournament with a matchup on the road against South Haven.
