Partnering with Security Federal, the Warren County Sports Authority will honor a standout local athlete each week. The WCSA and the Friendliest Bank in Town love seeing great athletic achievement and there are plenty to pick from every week in Warren County. From winter to summer, spring to fall, and on courts, fields, diamonds, dance floors and anywhere else an athlete can succeed, Security Federal and the Sports Authority are going to be on the lookout for the best of the best!

Pioneer sophomore Donathan Lewis
When the Pioneer broke up into two teams in the spring for a scrimmage, it was Donathan Lewis – then a freshman – who stole the show. He looked like the fastest guy on the field on both sides of the ball, catching long TDs and picking off passes with ease. All offseason, there was an excitement about the youngster stepping in and filling a role as a playmaker for the Pioneers.
Against Shelbyville, he was dynamic when he got the ball. He housed a kickoff return in the first quarter, sprinting past Golden Eagles on his way to a 91-yard score. He also found a way to get his hands on the ball when it wasn’t given to him, picking off a pass late in the second quarter to keep it a one-score game going into halftime.
What may have been most impressive was Lewis’ toughness though. He had no problem throwing his nose into the pile against the Golden Eagles and dished out some big hits – he took some too. It was even more eye-opening when you consider the sophomore didn’t practice all week due to an ankle injury he suffered last week against DeKalb County.
Playing through pain and trying to inflict some on opponents is an easy way to impress coach Matt Turner.
“Donathan didn’t practice at all this week because he hurt his ankle last week, but he was at practice and engaged. He’s impressive – we just have to get him in the weight room,” said Turner. “He’s going to be a dog. He’s probably our most vicious player coming up (on tackles), but sometimes it’s like a gnat hitting a windshield.”
Once Lewis puts on more muscle, opponents are going to be the gnats that the Pioneers’ star safety is squashing across the middle.
