Partnering with Security Federal, the Warren County Sports Authority will honor a standout local athlete each week. From winter to summer, spring to fall, and on courts, fields, diamonds, dance floors and anywhere else an athlete can succeed, Security Federal and the Sports Authority are going to be on the lookout for the best of the best!

Lady Pioneer Kassidy Nuckols

Sometimes winning takes days of planning, making meticulous tweaks and using the perfect strategy at the right moment. Other times, it just takes having the biggest and best player on the court. For the WCMS volleyball team last week, Kassidy Nuckols makes things easier every game.

Warren County was excellent last week with its back against the wall. The Lady Pioneers needed three straight Central Tennessee Conference wins to earn a bye in the postseason tournament, which included sweeping a doubleheader with Franklin South and taking down top-seeded Tullahoma. Nuckols helped make sure the team got all three victories.

Her size at the net changes opposing team's attacks, while the Lady Pioneer offense doesn't have to think hard about what to do. When the team needs points, WCMS starts looking for Nuckols at the net and hoping she slams it home.

In the late stages of the Tullahoma match, Nuckols was definitely up to the task. Tullahoma was trying to complete a perfect 10-0 CTC regular season, but the Lady Pioneers weren't going to let it happen. Warren County won with a sweep, feeding Nuckols over and over at the net to pick up crucial points in the final set.

Nuckols, who can sky over the net with ease, kept hitting harder and harder until Tullahoma had no answers. It was a big moment, made even sweeter as Nuckols was one of seven eighth-graders playing their final home match at Warren County Middle School.

Nuckols and the Lady Pioneers will be trying to keep the magic going this week in the CTC tournament. Stay tuned on the Warren County Sports Authority website for more information on the postseason run for the Lady Pioneers.
