Partnering with Security Federal, the Warren County Sports Authority will honor a standout local athlete of the week. The WCSA and the friendliest bank in town love seeing great athletic achievement and there are plenty to pick from every week in Warren County. From winter to summer, spring to fall, and on courts, fields, diamonds, dance floors, and anywhere else an athlete can succeed, Security Federal and the Sports Authority are going to be on the lookout for the best of the best!

Boyd Volleyball team

No team could have a better September than the Boyd Lady Broncos had. The Boyd High School volleyball team went the entire month without a loss, winning 13 games in a row at one point to build up their record in the TNCAA conference. Boyd is looking to claim a state title this year and they looked like a championship team all last month.

Most of the time, it only took the Lady Broncos three sets to pick up wins. And even when it was a close match, Boyd just found a way to win close games. They finished the month with a 25-20, 25-13 and 25-17 win over Riverside Christian and started it with a five-set win over Franklin Classical on the road.

Along the way, they picked up the first ever win over the MT Heat, beat Riverside Christian in Fayetteville in three sets, beat Lancaster Christian in Smyrna in four sets and beat Daniel One and the Bradley Knights in a tri-match at home Sept. 16. The also had wins over SC3 and Lighthouse Christian and earned two more victories in a tri-match against Knoxville Apostolic and the Bradley Knights.

Boyd has two really good seniors this year with Audrey Durham showing off her vertical at the net and Lanya Byars doing great things serving and hitting in the back row. The Lady Broncos have built some depth too behind their seniors.

Krista Chisam is the team's do-it-all players as a good server, top setter and great defender. There's a reason why she was named to the TNCAA and TSIAA all-state teams last year and she may make them again this year.

Journee Page, Mia Onderka and Anslee McCrary are all in their first year with the team after moving to Boyd this year and they're all doing good things. Journee is a good server, Mia is a ferocious hitter and Anslee is an agile athlete who can protect the net.

The upfront defense also gets the benefit of having Lottie Hash back from last year while Kealey Simpson and Emma Miller regularly rotate in to help out and stuff their opponent's attack.

Expect big things from the Lady Broncos as they get closer and closer to the postseason. Boyd will want to hang more banners at JK Stanley Gymnasium with this impressive team!
