The New WCSA - Trevor Evans

When I started helping Jeff with sideline coverage 2 years ago in Smithville. I never knew I’d be the one helping run it one day. I just wanted to do some podcasts and to keep talking sports with people I liked. I guess I’ll get to do that still.

I’m Trevor Evans and I’m happy to say that I’m going to be joining with Ansley Mullican Murphree to continue to run and operate the Warren County Sports Authority. I think I can do a good job because sports are something I have always had a passion for.

Here’s a fun fact for everybody – Jeff may have written more stories than me, but I have scored more varsity points than him. People may remember me from my time with the Pioneer basketball team, which provided some of the most fun moments in my life.

I was lucky enough to be part of one team that won the school’s first district championship in over 30 years in 2020. Then I was coaching in 2021 when we went back to back against Sparta. From the people I met to the moments I had, like my teammates lifting me up with the championship trophy in Sparta when all the Warren County fans were going crazy, it made me love Warren County sports even more.

It will take me awhile to get used to doing this but I have learned quickly before. When I was a kid I knew I wanted to be a part of sports in my hometown and I went and helped as a manager. I didn’t know what I was doing then but I think I learned quick. I hope people will give me time to learn on the fly at this job too because I still want to be a part of Warren County sports.

One thing I want to do first is get the podcast back going more frequently. It was something I really thought would help out for the media in town and I have really enjoyed my time talking with the coaches and meeting new people. If we can do that and also give you live looks at WC sports, I think people will continue to come to the WCSA.

I know I couldn’t do this alone but I don’t have to either. Ansley has been a lot of fun to work with and get to know as we formed the dynamic duo on football coverage. I think we can be a dynamic duo running the website too.

Be on the lookout for more of our coverage soon. We may be leaning on our videos a lot more but that should be good because seeing it is even better than reading it and I know people have been asking for years to get to see more of the games.

If you have any suggestions for how we can be better I would love to hear them. I am a quick learner and want to be out there talking to the public soon. Thank you for believing in us and I hope we can keep this going for years to come.

Trevor Evans, new WCSA co-owner

Broadcasting games and talking to coaches are two things I like doing and I hope we can continue to do it on the WCSA!
